WikiFibs Beginnings

WikiFibs.org began as an idea in 2019, when an elementary school teacher named Mr. Green noticed that his students believed everything they read online, even the totally made-up stuff. From haunted umbrellas to square-shaped planets, if it looked like a fact and came from a website, they took it as the truth.

So, Mr. Green had a thought: What if there were a website that looked just like a real encyclopedia… but was completely filled with nonsense? Not to fool kids for fun—but to teach them a valuable lesson: Not everything online is true, and it’s up to us to think critically and ask questions.

In 2025, that idea finally became WikiFibs.org- a silly, curious, and occasionally ridiculous “encyclopedia” designed to help kids learn how to spot unreliable information. Each article is carefully crafted to almost sound right, with just enough wacky or incorrect details to make kids go, “Wait a minute…”

Whether it’s the history of invisible penguins or the science behind spaghetti-powered rockets, the goal is the same: to get kids laughing, thinking, and most importantly, learning how to double-check their sources.

"Because in a world full of information, knowing how to separate the facts from the fibs is one of the most important superpowers of all."

-Michael Green, Coffee-Powered Teacher / Founder of WikiFibs

This photo has nothing to do with us. It was found online. Looks convincing though, right?
