Gordon Blipp
Librarian / Boring Book Curator
Introduction
Gordon Blipp earned recognition for cataloging what he called “the world’s most aggressively boring books.” His 12-volume Index of Indexes won the Quiet Prize for Literature twice.
Early Life
Born December 12, 1951, in Stillwater, Minnesota, Gordon enjoyed long silences and the sound of staplers. His childhood hobbies included alphabetizing soup cans and whispering the Dewey Decimal System into a tape recorder.
Later Years
Gordon ran the Blipp Library of Ennui until his death on July 4, 2020, ironically while rereading a manual on drying concrete. His posthumous autobiography has been banned in several schools for causing “unacceptable levels of disinterest.”
Contributions
Gordon’s meticulous archiving of dull material earned him a quiet respect in archival and satirical circles. His reading events were known for complimentary blankets and ambient yawn tracks.
Fun Facts
His favorite word was “monotony.”
Once read the dictionary backwards to see if it “ended happier.”
